March 17, 2015 9:47 AM

Startup Madness, now in its fifth year, will return to NC State’s Centennial Campus on Friday, March 27, 2015.

The competition, co-hosted by HQ Raleigh and NC State’s Poole College of Management, is one of the East Coast’s only intercollegiate pitch competitions for student entrepreneurs. Up to two undergraduate and graduate student startups from each of the Atlantic Coast Conference universities will participate in a bracket-style competition, pitching their companies to a panel of judges comprised of faculty, investors, and entrepreneurs from the region.

The Elite Eight portion of the competition, hosted at The State Club on NC State’s Centennial Campus, is open to the public beginning at 5:00pm.  Teams will compete for up to $3K in cash prizes provided by The RTP and Citrix, plus a trip to Silicon Valley to meet with Kleiner Perkins. Other prizes include a guaranteed spot in the ThinkHouse accelerator, half-tuition scholarships to Tech Talent South’s code immersion courses, and consultations with Bull City Venture Partners, IDEA Fund Partners, and other local firms.

In partnership with the newly opened Poole College Entrepreneurship Clinic, HQ Raleigh will also host an invitation-only University Roundtable on March 26th at its Warehouse District location to facilitate collaboration among the visiting university faculty and advisors.

The event is supported by Hutchison Law, Cherry Bekaert, the RTP, Citrix, Wells Fargo, Innovate Raleigh, REVGEN, Leadership exCHANGE, OrderUp, and the ThinkHouse.

Free tickets are now available for those interested in attending the final round of the competition. VIP tickets cost $10 and provide reserved seating at the final round, as well as entry to the preliminary round of the competition and a kickoff on March 26th at The Frontier at the RTP.  Learn more and register at
